Due to the recent changes in LAUSD's Progress Reports, grading is done in a variety of ways to most accurately assess your child's progress, both through effort and achievement.
The most common system is a 4 point criteria. It's breakdown is as follows:
Number Grading Explanation 4 = EXCEEDS grade level expectations 3= Meets and or mastered grade level expectations 2= Partially meets or is approaching grade level expectations 1= Far BELOW grade level expectations.
Points Because the District is moving to an online platform for parents to view the student's grades, one must consider the level of importance of each assignment. Example, written assignments may be worth 20% of the total grade and tests may be 50%. To create a more user friendly platform, each assignment will be worth a certain number of points. At the end of the term, your child's grade will be based on the total number of points earned over the total number of points possible.
